With more and more recruiters utilising behavioural assessment in interviews, LinkedIn surveyed nearly 1,300 recruitment staff from UK, US, Canada, Europe and Asia to find the most suitable questions to ask talent:
- Tell me about a time when you were asked to do something you had never done before – how did you react and what did you learn?
- Recall a time when you were assigned a task outside of your job description. How did you handle the situation and what was the outcome?
- Tell me about a time in the last week when you’ve been productive at work… What were you doing?
- Describe the best supervisor with whom you’ve worked. What part of their managing style appealed to you?
- Tell me about the last time something significant didn’t go according to plan at work. What was your role? What was the outcome?
- What’s the biggest career goal you’ve ever achieved?
- Tell me about a time when you had to juggle several projects at the same time. How did you organise your time? What was the result?
- How do you determine what amount of time is reasonable for a task?
- Give an example of when you had to work with someone who was difficult to get along with. How did you handle interactions with that person?
- Recall a time when your manager was unavailable when a problem arose. How did you handle the situation? With whom did you consult?
- What would make you choose our company over others?
